Movement Fundamentals Directions

Movement Fundamentals is the first Module in your Teacher Training program. Thank you for your commitment to this program. We look forward to supporting you every step of the way!

Movement Fundamentals Directions: Completion of this module is required prior to moving forward in the training program. This module is designed as independent study and will prepare you for the Movement Modules.

History of Pilates and Pilates Principles (2 Hours)

  • Read Pages 1-3 in your Pilates Guide Mat Manual about the History of Joseph Pilates.

  • Read and Study Page 4 in your Pilates Guide Mat Manual covering the 9 Pilates Principles.

  • Watch the videos on the History of Pilates.

  • Recommended Reading: Return to Life by Joseph Pilates.

Movement Fundamentals (4 Hours)

  • Watch the "Exercise Essentials - Coming Full Circle" video with Susie Green.

Special Populations (2 Hours)

Body Typing/Postural Analysis is an important part of Movement Fundamentals and essential to understand before starting the Movement Modules. You will revisit this topic as part of the Mentoring requirements for Special Populations later in the program.

  • Watch the "Body Typing/Postural Analysis" video with Susie Green.

  • Print the “Body Typing Quick Reference Sheet” for future use.

Movement Fundamentals Assessment Quiz: All questions must be answered correctly before proceeding to the Movement Modules.

  • Complete the Movement Fundamentals Assessment Quiz.

  • Submit the completed quiz to your Master Educator for grading.

  • Correct any questions that your Master Educator marks as incorrect or incomplete and return for final approval.
